I finally figured out how to work the thermostat in my room, and now I'm so warm. I love it. But the day started off with a visit to the office. It's pictured below:
The inside of the office is pretty dark, so I didn't try and take pictures. We spent a lot of time at the office and worked pretty much non-stop the whole day. The staff was so accommodating and nice. They ordered food for us during lunch, and it was really nice to sit and chat with some of the staff. For lunch we had three different side dishes. One was the eggplant with walnut paste, like what I had for dinner the night before, one was cabbage with walnut paste, and the other was some type of salad that I actually didn't get to try.:
And, of course, these things were eaten with chachapuri. I'm really looking forward to trying some other varieties of this bread like kubdari, which has a meat filling.
I also took a picture for Tina of her friend:
She's not smiling too much in this photo, but she's actually super nice and smiles a lot when she's not being photographed. It's funny because the kitchen is supposedly the only place where people are permitted to smoke in the office. I feel like the kitchen is the worst place. Why not just go outside? When I got back to the hotel, I opted to simply stay in and catch up on some work. I was going to try to do some non-work work, but I got so caught up in work work that I couldn't do it. This means that I may have to cut my sight-seeing short on Saturday in order to get some of my non-work stuff finished. What a bummer.
On day three, we're visiting a smaller organization and then we'll go to dinner with some people and plan our sight-seeing schedule on Saturday. I'm really looking forward to the drive through the Caucasus Mountains. Apparently, we will be riding with another grantee of ours based in Germany, with whom we had not schedule a visit. And also, what is interesting is that the Georgian driver will take us to the border, we have to walk over to the Armenia side, and then the Armenian driver will take us to Yerevan.
...also can't wait for the sulphur baths and massage.
