Day Three in Tbilisi

Day started pretty much the same as the three previous days with an early breakfast downstairs followed by some prep work for the day. Then someone came and picked us up.

Today, we visited another grantee. Their offices seemed to be located in a different part of town from the previous grantee. This grantee helped fund 4 local groups in different regions of Georgia. Then these local groups work with other smaller local groups to work on conservation projects. We got a sampling of the projects, which ranged from creating some pamphlets about endemic species to collecting seeds from native plants for a seed bank.

Here's another picture of the neighborhood:
After working till about 6:30, we headed back to the hotel and got ready to have dinner. The Conservation Director came and picked us up for dinner. When we got to the restaurant, the table was set with many small dishes.

There was this bread. I think it's made in a similar way as naan.
This was some sort of plant from the forest. It tasted like pickled, brined vegetables.

This is a sort of cheese. I didn't try it because my stomach hasn't been too happy about all the dairy, but my colleagues all said it was really salty.
This is a mix of different foods with walnut paste. I thought the green would have more cilantro, but it tasted more like parsley. I think I liked this version of badrijani (eggplant with walnut paste) the best.Conversation flowed pretty smoothly with everyone. We all had a lot of fun, except every 10 minutes, they'd have singers or dancers perform, and then you'd have to shout to be able to hear one another.

I had this chicken and rice dish for dinner:
with some Georgian wine.
I went outside to enjoy the view of the city:
And ended the meal with a cup of Turkish coffee.
