freath of bresh air

I wish I had some pictures to post, but I'm still in the process of transitioning to a different computer...so I'm not supposed to upload my photos until all the transition team finishes up.

It was quite a whirlwind several weeks trying to wrap up personal business, as well as returning to work. My head is still kind of buzzing...and, boy, am I glad that this week has really been just a two-day week for me, since work so kindly gave us Monday and Tuesday off, and I had to serve my civic duty on Thursday.

Last week was such a fantastic week. I saw old friends almost every single day of the week. I saw Anne on Monday night, Oliver on Tuesday, then Allison, Tyler and Max on Saturday, Shulie on Sunday, and Misha and David on Monday. It was really, really cool.

I made pizzas with Allison and Tyler and had some salad from a bag and then on Sunday night, we all went out to Lebanese Taverna with Shulie, Michael and Tina for dinner. The food was so amazing. I think the only time I've been disappointed with Lebanese Taverna has been when they catered a party that JT hosted at his house. Anyway, Shulie had this amazing fish! YUM! The rest of us ordered a bunch of mezza. I ordered these meat dumplings (the dish was something like Shish Barak), but unfortunately, this dish was a bit of a disappointment.

Allison brought me an issue of Craft magazine, which I'm slowly working my way thru. I gave her some earl grey tea i bought at Heathrow (I was seduced by the packaging...). Thankfully, she told me that the tea is quite good, so there was some substance behind all that style.

Shulie and I made lots of food this weekend. Shulie made these on Monday morning:

And then later in the evening, Misha and David came over. i made these beef and curry pies, but substituted boca "meat" for ground beef. I don't have a picture, but this is what they looked like:

And Shulie worked on the butternut squash soup, which was so amazing! We didn't add the bacon bits called for in the recipe (located in February's Gourmet). This is the photo from Gourmet of the soup:

And I also made a green bean salad that I first had over Rosh Hashanah dinner at Drew and Aaron's several years ago. The salad has beans, frisee, walnuts, some romano cheese...very good, but no pictures.

It's nice returning to life...
